FB Paddle Racing, Inc. is a North Carolina non-profit entity whose purpose is to foster competition in all types of paddlesports racing, particularly on the French Broad River. Our primary event is the two-day French Broad Classique, held annually in the latter part of April (2014 dates are April 26-27) near Asheville, North Carolina. The French Broad Classique has paddling events for competitors of every experience level and craft: canoes, kayaks and stand-up paddleboards. Competitors can come for one or both days and are welcome to switch to different boats or different classes.

On June 21, 2014, FB Paddle Racing will host the United States Canoe Association's National Stock Aluminum Canoe/Downriver Kayak Marathon Championships. For the first time, this event include USCA's National Championships for Downriver Kayaks (ICF Wildwater specifications). We are delighted to have been selected to organize this event. Just a few days before the Aluminum Canoe/Downriver Kayak Nationals, the American Canoe Association's Whitewater Open Canoe Downriver National Championships will be contested on the nearby Nantahala River. FB Paddle Racing has been the organizer of that event previously; this year's event is being hosted by the Nantahala Outdoor Center. Because the ACA WWOCD Nationals and the USCA Aluminum Canoe/Downriver Kayak Nationals are located quite close to each other (about an hour and half drive) and the dates have been coordinated, it is possible (and encouraged!!) for competitors to attend both races. In addition to the events listed above, FB Paddle Racing helps to promote races in other places. Click here to access information on other races.
